Here's a list of Australian and New Zealand wines that pair perfectly with all kinds of chocolate – whether you prefer milk, dark or white varieties.

Pairing wine with chocolate is about balancing flavours. Because they both have similar characteristics, it can often be tricky to get the match right.

A dry red with a super dark chocolate? Too bitter. But milk chocolate with lighter, fruit-driven reds or fortified wines? *Chef's kiss*. For fans of white chocolate, look to gewürztraminer and late-harvest rieslings – the sweetness of the former is a good match for the latter.

As we approach the chocolate season (also known as Easter), we’ve put together a list of wines that take the confusion out of pairing the two together.
