Our Review
Established in 1970 by wine industry pioneer David Hohnen and his brothers Mark and Giles, Cape Mentelle takes its name from the nearby Cape, named by the French ‘Baudin Expedition’ which charted the coast of WA in 1801. Bought in ’23 by the Endeavour Group, Cape Mentelle produces a range of wines from chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, zinfandel and more, many of which are made from the 16ha of original vines. A pioneer of Margaret River, it offers a memorable cellar-door experience, plus its well-established gardens and grounds are a delight. Worth a detour. And each year, it hosts the excellent International Cabernet Tasting. -HALLIDAY TEAM

Information
Just 4km from town on the way to the beach. A photo display of Cape Mentelle’s history is hung in the rammed-earth Barrel Hall behind the cellar door that is open to anyone keen to immerse themselves in the growth of one of the Margaret River's founding five wineries.
Swings, a drawing table for children, picnic tables in our garden and traditional French pétanque lawns are also available to make your visit to our Estate memorable.
A range of tastings offered daily in our Cabernet Cellar; bookings are not essential. Behind-the-scenes tours and Museum Tastings are also available; bookings are essential.
