Our Review
Blue Poles Vineyard is named for the iconic Jackson Pollock painting Blue Poles: Number 11, 1952, controversially purchased by the Australian National Gallery in the ’70s. The painting came to embody the evolution of Australian’s nationhood; to the owners, the name is a nod to the ‘independence and free thought’ that inspires them. Their focus is merlot and cabernet franc, but they also have shiraz, chardonnay and smaller amounts of viognier, teroldego and marsanne planted. -JAMES HALLIDAY
