Our Review
TarraWarra is, and always has been, one of the top-tier wineries in the Yarra Valley. Founded by Marc Besen AC and wife Eva Besen AO, it has operated on the basis that quality is paramount, cost a secondary concern. The creation of the TarraWarra Museum of Art (twma.com.au) in a purpose-built building provides another reason to visit. Changes in the vineyard include the planting of shiraz and merlot, and in the winery, the creation of a 4-tier range: the deluxe MDB label made in tiny quantities and only when the vintage permits; the single-vineyard range; the Reserve range; and the 100% estate-grown varietal range. -JAMES HALLIDAY

Cellar Door
Information
Our subterranean Cellar Door, designed by Kerstin Thompson Architects, has been designed to give our guests a unique insight into the wines and story of TarraWarra. All of our wines are grown and made from our 28 hectare vineyard, which is scattered across the 400 hectare property. A tasting through our range is a journey across the estate as well as through the seasons which each wine capturing something of the essence of TarraWarra. Opened in 2016, the curved stone entrance reveals a truly beautiful, dedicated tasting space, which opens onto our working winery.

Our hatted restaurant is led by Manager Darren Fraser and Head Chef Mark Ebbels. They are committed to creating a memorable experience for every guest at TarraWarra. Mark’s menu draws heavily from our kitchen garden and locally sourced produce, as well as from his incredible experience in kitchens around the world. He creates dishes that are innovative, surprising and ultimately delectable. Darren is a consummate professional. He started at TarraWarra in 2003 and has since trained numerous young locals in delivering friendly yet professional service, maintaining the highest standards in a welcoming environment. Reflecting the Estate’s commitment to sustainability, Darren and Mark aim to have a positive impact on the way we operate, as well as leaving a great impression on the guests who dine here.
