DOGROCK

Victoria | Pyrenees

Our Review

This is the venture of Allen (now full-time winemaker) and Andrea (viticulturist) Hart. Having purchased the property in '98, the planting of shiraz, riesling, tempranillo, grenache, chardonnay and marsanne began in '00 (0.2ha of touriga nacional added in ’16 and arinto and azal in ’20). Given Allen’s former post as research scientist and winemaker with Foster’s, the attitude taken to winemaking is unexpected. The estate-grown wines are made in a low-tech fashion, without gas cover or filtration. -JAMES HALLIDAY

Specialities

DOGROCK has many varieties not commonly found in the Pyrenees such as Grenache, Riesling and Tempranillo. These varieties make great wines and the Riesling and Grenache have been exceptional with several trophies and many gold medals awarded across the seasons. Of course, we also have the main varieties such as Shiraz, Chardonnay and lately Cabernet Sauvignon also planted.
