Onannon

Sam Middleton, Kaspar Hermann and Will Byron have donated the last 2 or 3 letters of their surnames to come up with Onannon. They have many things in common, not the least working vintages at Coldstream Hills, Will for 6 years, Sam for 2 (before ultimately returning to the family’s winery, Mount Mary) and Kaspar for 1. Since then they have bounced between vintages in Burgundy and Australia. You would have to go a long way to find 3 more open-hearted and utterly committed winemakers; the world is their oyster, their ambitions unlimited. They lease and manage a Red Hill vineyard with 3ha of pinot noir. -JAMES HALLIDAY
