Our Review
Formerly Lightfoot & Sons. Brian and Helen Lightfoot first established a vineyard of predominantly pinot noir and shiraz, with some cabernet sauvignon and merlot, on their Myrtle Point farm in the late ‘90s. In the early days, most of the grapes were sold, but with the arrival of Alastair Butt (formerly of Brokenwood and Seville Estate) and sons Tom and Rob Lightfoot taking over the business around ‘08 (Tom in the vineyard and cellar, Rob overseeing sales and marketing), the focus has shifted to producing estate wines. Cabernet and merlot have since been replaced with more chardonnay, some gamay and pinot grigio, but pinot noir retains the top spot. -TYSON STELZER
