Our Review
Balgownie Estate is the senior citizen of Bendigo, its original vineyard plantings now 50 years old. The estate also has a cellar door at 1309 Melba Hwy in the Yarra Valley, where operations fit in neatly with the Bendigo wines. In Apr ’16 a Chinese investment company purchased the Balgownie Bendigo and Yarra Valley operations for $29 million. Sadly, the same investment company sold the Bendigo site and its surrounding old vines at the end of '24. It is slated for development. -JAMES HALLIDAY
