Our Review
Julia and Bernard Morey are the duo behind Juliard Wines. Juliard is a portmanteau of Julia and Bernard, symbolising not only their partnership, but the union of tradition and freshness of ideas in winemaking which includes a commitment to sustainable and biodynamic practices. The couple started with shiraz in ’18, using a blend of Beechworth and Yarra Valley grapes in their Healesville garage. In ’20, they returned to Beechworth, where Bernard was born and raised into the winemaking family at Sorrenberg. Julia works alongside Barry Morey at Sorrenberg, while Bernard is vineyard manager for Campbells, Rutherglen. Over the past few years, the couple have not only continued their journey with shiraz, but enlarged the sourcing to include chardonnay, a rosé and, in 2022, a GSM. They are excited by the potential in the region for further exploration, and in 2019 planted a small block of bush vine grenache, shiraz, mourvèdre and carignan on the Sorrenberg vineyard block, Bindarra. -JENI PORT
