Larnook

South Australia | McLaren Vale

Our Review

Larnook means to build a habitation, camp or nest in the language of the Kulin nation. Winemaker Alexia Roberts and her family recently built their own nest atop a rise in Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale, planted to old bush-vine grenache dating from 1922, alongside younger shiraz plantings from ’99. Wines under the subregional Blewitt Springs Single Site series come from the property, while others are sourced from elsewhere within the Vale. For such a young project, the quality is high. Here, attention is paid to retaining freshness and employing the broader textural girth that comes with that. A name to watch. -NED GOODWIN MW
