Grant Nash

South Australia | McLaren Vale | Kaurna

Our Review

The eponym for this label is a phantom, an identity minted by a Siri voice-to-text autocorrect of grenache. That lack of recognition of and respect for the variety was a common one not long ago, but in ’22, Sam Martin and Sophie Richards (friends since meeting at Roseworthy Agricultural College in ’94) joined the swelling ranks of those determined to right that wrong. Grant Nash is currently an adjunct to their day jobs, but the intent is to grow organically, and with long-term ambitions. They source from prime McLaren Vale sites, eschew fining agents and don’t filter the reds. Presently, grenache-centric blends fill the portfolio, with a rosé and a pair of reds, one they pitch for lunch, and the other, dinner. -JAMES HALLIDAY
