Our Review
The Schubert Estate we know today was established in 2000, but its roots go back to 1915 when the Schubert family first arrived in the Barossa Valley and planted vines at their Roennfeldt Road estate. Today, winemaker Matt Reynolds (also Hare’s Chase, see listing), who joined from Teusner in '20 (prior to that he was at Kellermeister, and before that Kay Brothers), is at the helm. Schubert Estate’s focus is on classic, single-vineyard shiraz and viognier made from estate-grown fruit, and sustainability is an integral part of its operations. As well as an onsite tasting room, the Marananga-based winery offers accommodation for up to six people in its recently refurbished, self-contained homestead, called the Residence. -ANNA WEBSTER

Schubert Estate’s bespoke wine room overlooks the estate’s vineyards, 16ha of prized Barossa terroir. Guests can soak up the views and elegant atmosphere whilst enjoying a guided tasting of premium wines or find a spot to settle in with wines available by the glass or bottle and a generous gourmet local tasting platter. Winter opening hours: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays 11–4, weekends by appointment.

Set in the vineyards and gardens of the Schubert Estate, the three-bedroom Residence offers relaxed, premium self-contained accommodation for up to six people. Recently refurbished with plenty of room to move, there are three comfortable double bedrooms (two with ensuite) and a large fully equipped kitchen with plenty of workspace.
