Bosward

South Australia | Barossa Valley | Peramangk, Ngadjuri and Kauna land

Our Review

Bosward is the latest feather in the cap of winemaker Reid Bosward who, before founding his eponymous label in ’23 with his wife, Bindi, and their 3 children, was best known for his purchase and rejuvenation of Kaesler in ’99 and, 10 years later, Yarra Yering. Working with growers from across the Barossa, Reid produces a range of wines under the Bosward label – several classic and a handful less so. Alongside shiraz and semillon, stalwarts of the region, are alternative varieties including barbera, touriga nacional, and the cherry-red alicante. There’s also a white wine made from 100% cabernet sauvignon grapes, a technique Reid developed while working in southern France in ’94. On the labels is a Rorschach-esque image of a baby caribou, lifted from a stone Reid was gifted by his cousin as a token of good fortune. -DAVE BROOKES
