Our Review
Before the grape crush took hold, James Scarcebrook started out in wine retail, working his way from cellar door assistant to marketing coordinator at Domaine Chandon in the Yarra Valley and most recently in sales with leading importers. A love of Italian varieties had been cemented earlier when he took off overseas for 16 months in '11 after finishing a master of wine business at Adelaide University. Then in '16, a small parcel of Heathcote sangiovese morphed into the inaugural Vino Intrepido. Dedicated solely to Italian varieties with fruit sourced mostly from Victorian growers, the range has expanded to include vermentino, friulano, fiano, nero d’Avola and nebbiolo among others. -JANE FAULKNER
