McWilliam’s

New South Wales | Riverina | Wiradjuri Nation

Our Review

The McWilliam's brand and Hanwood Vineyard was purchased by Calabria wines in '21 (McWilliam’s Mount Pleasant winery and vineyards were bought by Medich Family Office). The exceptional-value offerings of Hanwood Estate in Griffith remain anchors of the brand. Yet McWilliam’s viticultural resources have expanded to include Hilltops, Tumbarumba and Canberra whence wines of considerable detail, cool-climate clarity and exceptional value are crafted under the aegis of chief winemaker Russell Cody. While the Single Vineyard suite sets the pace, the 660 range is brilliant, defined by a series of wines that are surely among the country’s greatest bargains. A new cellar door opened mid-'23. -NED GOODWIN MW
