Our Review
The Tinja property has been in the Lowe family for 6 generations; vines were first planted here in the ’70s. The organic and biodynamic vineyard has now grown to 18.5ha with the addition of 7ha planted to 9 different Italian varieties. Trellised and contour-planted, the addition represent a new frontier, where unirrigated and un-trellised reds have long been the norm. While there are new varieties joining the ranks, the vineyard still produces its classic ‘gutsy’ red wines, from shiraz and merlot to zinfandel planted in the ’90s – the zin producing what Ned Goodwin MW described as Australia’s ‘finest example’. A Good Food Guide–hatted restaurant (The Zin House), an extensive permaculture and market garden, and a large events pavilion look out over scenic farmland. -HALLIDAY TEAM
