Next-gen Hunter Valley winemaker Sam Rumpit established NOMAN in ’25 with an eye to producing approachable, easy-drinking wines – and always from alternative varieties – that tell a story. The name, lifted from Homer’s Odyssey, was picked to emphasise that latter point, but what drives it home is Sam’s philosophy to only source from regions that best suit the fruit. As well as giving a voice to site and season, this also allows Sam to keep the range interesting and dynamic year on year. -ANNA WEBSTER
