Iron Gate Estate would not be out of place in the Napa Valley, which favours bold architectural statements made without regard to cost; no expense was spared in equipping the winery or on the lavish cellar door facilities. The winery and its equipment have been upgraded since the arrival in '18 of veteran winemaker Geoff Broadfield, who has reshaped the business plan. -JAMES HALLIDAY
