Imperial Measures Distillery

South Australia | Adelaide

Our Review

Imperial Measures is one of Adelaide's more established distilleries, having produced high-quality gins, liqueurs and amari for over 10 years. The brand's distinctive, cut glass decanter packaging is immediately recognisable, and these weighty, quality bottles make its reasonable pricing even more welcome. In terms of quality and consistency, Imperial Measures sits in the top tier of Australian spirit producers – its products are reliably solid, well balanced and fit for purpose, and there’s a real attention to detail that sets it apart from 'give it a crack and hope for the best' producers. Its use of botanicals in its amari, gins and liqueurs in particular is top notch, and it tends to make more old-world style products that are carefully balanced and filtered rather than the more bombastic, lo-fi style of many Australian producers. Imperial Measures has recently relocated to the Colac redevelopment in Port Adelaide, where you can see its shiny new stills in operation, and where it's offering tours and tastings as well as a full service restaurant experience featuring Imperial Measures cocktails, as well as other Aussie spirits. It has also recently released a single malt whisky for the first time – an exciting new addition to the Imperial Measures lineup. -FRED SIGGINS
