Inside Tamar Ridge and PIRIE’s elegant new Tamar Valley cellar door

Tamar Ridge and PIRIE have unveiled an elevated new cellar door located just 20 minutes from Launceston, offering premium tastings and sweeping Tamar Valley views.

Two of Tasmania’s most celebrated cool-climate wine names now share a refined new home, with the newly refurbished Tamar Ridge and PIRIE cellar door opening its doors in the Tamar Valley, just 20 minutes from Launceston. Framed by sweeping views across the valley and Tamar River, the destination offers guided tastings, wine flights and immersive experiences for both brands, all under one roof.

Inside, the landscape has shaped every detail. Tasmanian oak anchors the oversized group tasting table, while an expansive bar and warm, natural finishes lend the room an assured sense of place. With broad windows and a cozy fireplace, it's an inviting setting for guests to linger over a glass, no matter the season. Outside, the lawn offers a sun-drenched setting for a glass of PIRIE sparkling.

“The refurbishment was inspired by the beauty of the Tamar Valley and our desire to create a brand home that reflects the quality and prestige of both Tamar Ridge and PIRIE,” says portfolio manager Katherine Brown. “Natural materials connect the space to its picturesque setting, while expansive windows celebrate the remarkable views.”

The experience is designed to reveal the distinct character of both brands. Tamar Ridge’s cool-climate pinot noir is echoed in the interior’s darker furnishings, while PIRIE brings an elegant counterpoint through light timber and sage green, creating a space perfect for tasting premium Tasmanian sparkling, local oysters and caviar.

“We have created a shared experience that celebrates each brand’s distinctive personality while highlighting their common connection to Tasmania’s cool climate and the Tamar Valley,” Katherine says. As part of the offerings, guests have the opportunity to explore each range separately or discover the two together through guided tastings and premium flights.

More immersive options include PIRIE and Tasmanian oyster pairings and a pinot noir blending experience. Between tastings, visitors can enjoy local produce, settle beside the fire with a glass of pinot noir or move outdoors with sparkling in hand. As Katherine puts it, the cellar door offers “the opportunity to discover two of Tasmania’s most awarded wine brands in one spectacular Tamar Valley destination”.
