The China Awards recognise Australian trade, media and educators who are paving the way in this growing marketplace. Headlining the festivities, the Mandarin edition of the Halliday Wine Companion was a notable feature, and when James Halliday got up to deliver the closing remarks, he was introduced by Andreas Clark, CEO of Wine Australia, as “Australian wine royalty”, which was greeted by a standing ovation from the audience of 200-plus people.
In line with Wine Australia’s goal of continued growth in China, the nation’s largest export market, the Mandarin edition of the Halliday Wine Companion provides this audience with a deeper understanding of and connection to Australian wine, promoting thousands of local producers through its pages.
The initial run of the Mandarin guide has been fully committed, and the book has gone into immediate reprint. The Mandarin edition (pictured above) incorporates a cover custom-designed for the Chinese market. The launch edition also includes a 2019 Award Winners supplement inside.
The latest Halliday Wine Companion in Mandarin is priced at RMB490 (around A$100).
