On October 13, Sotheby’s New York auction house is releasing 100 lots of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti from the personal cellar of Robert Drouhin, of respected family-run winery Maison Joseph Drouhin in Burgundy, France.
The wines to feature in this auction have been carefully held in Robert’s cellar for more than 50 years and include some highly coveted, seldom-seen vintages. Adding to the rarity of the collection, Robert and his father, Maurice, acquired these wines directly from the Domaine de la Romanee-Conti estate in Burgundy.
James Halliday says of the sale: “The provenance of the wines is absolutely rock-solid, with none of the fraudsters having any chance of bobbing up. The wines will have been kept in perfect cellaring conditions of around 12˚C and, on the face of it, I don’t think we will see such an auction again.”
In addition to exceptional vintages from this celebrated producer, the sale will feature a selection of Grand Cru wines from Maison Joseph Drouhin.
